Rhizomatic learning again! #cyberpsy #artifact

When I found out that I would have to make a creative artifact at the end of the course, I was a little puzzled and a little scared. I don’t consider myself a creative person, but this time I decided to try my hand at creativity. Writing posts seemed easier to me – we discussed the material in class, looked at various artifacts on our topic, plus I could additionally read something on the Internet. In the end, I thought it would be a good solution to make a cognitive artifact on a topic that got me hooked. Namely, rhizomatic learning. No, the concept of rhizomes in general also interested me, but rhizomatic training in particular.

As part of preparing the artifact, I learned the basics Prezi.com. This was the first experience of creating a video, but I think that in the future I will still use this resource. At some point, I became interested in creating videos and thought that in the future it would be possible to experiment with different designs.

As a result, I believe that I have a good educational artifact, and I hope that in the future I can improve my skills in working with this resource.

Netopia is fiction or reality? #cyberpsy

In my understanding, netopia is one of the possible scenarios for the development of the world, as a result of which our society will become completely dependent on the Internet. I think it’s possible. Society is already dependent on the Internet. And the problem is not only in social networks, but also on the Internet in general. We learn a lot of news from the Internet, work and study online. The coronavirus has accelerated the process of internetization. Is it now possible to live without the daily use of a computer? Of course, not…

Technology is developing rapidly and this process is only accelerating over the years. Recently, a 5G network has appeared. This network is able to provide more devices with the Internet. This way, in the future, self-driving cars and smart homes will not overload the network. People will become even more dependent on the Internet. Gradually, the world is moving towards the fact that people will live without leaving home. I do not consider the development of technology a negative process, but humanity is increasingly becoming dependent on an external factor.

Despite the fact that I believe in the possibility of netopia, I still hope that living human communication will not disappear anywhere. Otherwise, as Einstein said, “The world will have a generation of idiots”.

Privacy policy #cyberpsy

Reading the first chapter of the book “It’s complicated” I was struck by a thought. Indeed, when making any publications or chatting with someone on social networks, it is necessary to avoid ambiguity. Often, many things that we publish in social networks can be perceived differently by different groups of people. Every time we text someone or publish something, we leave it in the history of the Internet. Every time we write to someone or post something, we leave it in the history of the Internet. Posts made a long time ago can be perceived differently over time, so it is extremely important to monitor your culture on social networks.

Privacy is one solution to this problem. People can adjust their audience and determine personally who can have access to the content. Often, teenagers do not want to deal with the “tedious” privacy settings, so they use the ones that are set by default. I don’t think that’s right. When using the Internet in general (and social networks in particular), everyone should make their own decision about the privacy policy. Privacy settings do not take too much time, but a person will be able to feel comfortable in the Internet space, without fear of negative consequences. Parents should tell teenagers about the existence of such functions and why they are necessary.

Rhizomatic learning #cyberpsy

Live and Learn. Indeed, modern education is not limited to school or university studies. With the advent of the Internet, the world has developed faster and the acquisition of knowledge has become much easier. To be competitive in the labor market, you need to constantly improve your knowledge. Rhizomatic learning is a lifelong learning concept. The fundamental principle of rhizomatic education is “community as a curriculum”. Thus, topics for study and the format of training are chosen spontaneously (based on the experience of people participating in the educational process). In the process of rhizomatic learning, there are no teachers, here everyone teaches everyone.

It seems to me that the concept of rhizomatic education has a right to exist. When people meet, they can exchange useful experiences that have come in handy in their lives. This knowledge will have less theoretical component, but it will be more useful in everyday life. I believe that one of the disadvantages of rhizomatic learning is the lack of a knowledge structure. For example, you cannot judge the general situation by the experience of one person. Therefore, classical education is also important for obtaining a holistic picture of the world.

Memes in social networks #cyberpsy

It’s great that memes exist! Meme is a funny image that can include some text. It can be a still from a movie, a funny photo, or a simple picture. The text complements the image, and together it looks fun. I think a meme is self-expression, because a person can make fun of life or funny situations. Also, the advantage of memes is that anyone can do them. It is enough to create a group on social networks and post memes there. Everyone can see your work. Memes are more popular with young people, but some adults also love memes. Here are some examples of memes:

I find it amusing. Meme creation has now become a whole industry. There are many different groups for memes. Often, subscribers themselves can offer content for such groups. You can find funny memes about animals, about politicians, about current problems in people’s lives. For example, a meme about coronavirus:

It seems to me funny pictures, help to relax after a hard day, charge with positive and give a good mood. These pictures can be exchanged with friends and relatives. Perhaps we can already say that memes are an important part of the entertainment content on the Internet.

Spam and trolling – main problems of Internet #cyberpsy

While the Internet offers many advantages, it does have some disadvantages. For me, the main disadvantages of the Internet are spam and trolling. Getting a lot of promotional emails and bulk emails is annoying. I had to create a new mail to receive spam. Many Internet resources require registration by mail, and then constantly send out advertisements. As far as I understand, this is necessary to find new clients, but there is indeed too much spam. I hope that in the future people will learn to attract customers without bulk email.

Another problem on the Internet (in particular on social networks) is trolling and aggression. I don’t know why, but some people like to insult other people on social media. This can usually be found in the comments (both for regular posts in groups and for photographs of people). This is not normal, because most of these comments do not correspond to reality. I suppose that most people who write nasty things on social networks can’t say it in real life. I think teens are more relaxed about trolling on social media than adults. Adults often get turned on by provocations and begin to argue with the provocateur. Adults are also more concerned with their social media reputation, so they take it to heart. I believe people will be more welcoming on social networks in the future.

Do people need Instagram? #cyberpsy

Why did I decide to write about it? A lot of people used to use Instagram every day, but they don’t think that it really matters for their lives. I suppose Instagram will be gradually dying in future. Before I liked to post photos in Instagram, but later I realize that it’s not important for me. It seems to me that people are not interested in watching the life of the same ordinary people: stories of the same type, similar posts. At the same time, it seems to me that people spend too much time creating and viewing content on Instagram.

Instagram was originally used to share life photos with friends (as previously shown in various photo albums). But now people have started to publish all sorts of nonsense (not some memorable photos from life). Also, many people attach too much importance to the number of subscribers and their opinion. Besides observing the life of ordinary people, people also observe the life of popular persons, celebrities. In the modern world, television has faded into the background, many stars have switched to the Internet and make content there. Thus, Instagram is one of their working platforms, that is, the peculiarities of their work are in maintaining beautiful and relevant social networks. At the same time, ordinary people do not need to do this.

Introduce of “Its completed” #cyberpsy

After reading introduce of “Its completed”, I wondered if phones are really such a negative impact on children. The author focuses on a moment at a football game in Nashville, when children communicate with each other, while their parents sit in the phones. It seems to me that parents often restrict their children in the use of phones, fearing that children will forget about real life, plunging into their smartphones. But this is far from the case. Children use their phones mainly to communicate with friends while they are not around.

This book brought back memories of my childhood and school years. My first touch phone didn’t arrive until I was 16. Before that, I used a push-button phone. At that time, most of my classmates already had fancy phones, so my push-button phone was periodically taunted. It’s not that a push-button phone is an indicator of poverty, but that a touch-screen phone opened up the possibility of accessing the Internet and social networks. Finally, it was possible to chat with friends and classmates in the evenings, learn interesting news and find new acquaintances. As a result, I believe that parents should not scold their children for using the Internet. In a rapidly changing and developing world, social networks and the Internet as a whole have become one of the stages of socialization.

Social networks #cyberpsy

What do I think about social networks? I have dual impression about it.

In one side it’s really conveniently. People can communicate in different parts of Earth. For example, sometimes I message my family, friends and girlfriend. It’s really good because they are worried how do I do. In social networks people can meet new friends. Also, I think that social networks are useful for people how want to express yourself. People can lay out maybe music, photo or video content.

But in other side it can becomes in harmful habit. Last time more and more people prefer online-communication to live-communication. I suppose it isn’t good for society. Firstly, using phones or computers is harmful for eyes. Secondary, people forget to enjoy real life. They get used to use Instagram, Facebook, VKontakte (Russian analog Facebook) and waste a lot of time there. I also believe that the use of social media leads to a decrease in literacy rates. Instead of doing something useful (reading books, watching an educational movie), people are wasting their time

As a result, I think that even though social media greatly simplifies people’s lives, they also have a negative impact on the person who uses them too often.

Furst month in Greece #cyberpsy

Hey, it’s series of articles about me. First article represents thoughts after a month spent in Greece.

My name is Ivan. I am from Russia, but I’ve been living in Greece since last month. I used to live with my parents I Russia, but here I live alone. I suppose, this is excellent challenge for me. I am trying to cook, studying in university and I am becoming independent.

First week I was being on quarantine. It was the hardest time. All time I had to be at home. But I was watching a lot of movies and series, it was enjoyed me. I think measures combat COVID easier in Russia then in Greece. Russian people don’t use masks always, but only in shops and in public transport.

When I was flying to Greece, I was afraid that I would have languages troubles. I suppose that I can improve English skills here. In Russia people usually use only Russian everywhere.

I didn’t use to hear so a lot of English. I live with neighbors who use English, I have lessons on English, I met friends in University who speak on English too. Unfortunately, I can’t discuss difficult topics because my vocabulary isn’t good enough, but I’m here for changing it.
